Katie Mann HUskerson
I was raised in the horticulture trade and have had my nose in a blossom and hands in the dirt for as long as I can recall. A full sensory invitation is extended when time is spent in the garden. It gently nudges me into a more peaceful, meditative place. In nature I receive the gift of critical life support for my body, mind and spirit. What a joy to be curious, to experiment, to play.
My habitat gardens are led by the plants. I spend time on roadsides, in prairie remnants, and paused on hiking trails to take in the natural pairings and plant partnerships in our remaining wild spaces. While re-creation of the wild can’t be achieved, I strive to nurture designs that provide as much food, forage and shelter for our crawling, buzzing, flying, and fluttering fellow animals.
